  • Michael Kentris, DO

    Michael Kentris, DO

    Michael graduated neurology residency from Wright State University in 2017 followed by a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2018. He then returned as faculty to Wright State University, and while there was active in neurology education for the residency program and was given the excellence in teaching award by the neurology residents two years in a row.

    He has since moved to Youngstown, Ohio where he continues to teach medical students and residents regularly, both in person and online. He also works with the American Academy of Neurology’s continuing medical education journal, Continuum, as a narrator.

  • Tirtha Sawant, MD

    Tirtha Sawant is the Director of Personnel at The Neurotransmitters. Holding an MD degree from Spartan Health Sciences University in Saint Lucia, her academic achievements earned her a coveted spot on the Dean’s list. Her professional focus encompasses neurology, global health, and medical education. Notably, her contributions to the field include 3 peer reviewed articles.

    Currently, she is involved in educating medical students on USMLE content and conducting advanced research in the field of Ultrasound, further enhancing her impact in the domain.

  • Rida Farhan, MBBS

    Rida is the Social Media Director and the Podcast Editor at The Neurotransmitters. She is a graduate of Dow Medical College, Karachi, Pakistan. She has completed an intern year in Pakistan and is pursuing neurology training in the US. She is passionate about all things neuro with a significant bias towards epilepsy.

    Outside of medicine, she loves creative writing, journaling, baking and has a knack for diving into uncomfortable depths of life. In her spare time, she also mentors medical students on research projects. So feel free to get in touch if you are a student interested in neurology research!

  • Ricardo Vivanco, MD

    Ricardo is the Visual Media Director. He graduated from Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil in Ecuador, where he served as a Teaching Assistant in the Neurology Department. During his time in this role and later as a physician at a rural Ecuadorian community hospital, he noticed the widespread impact of "neurophobia" on medical students and healthcare personnel. Now pursuing neurology training in the US, his goal is to improve the diagnosis and management of neurological disorders through education and research.

    You'll find him traveling throughout Ecuador, trying out recipes from the Serious Eats website, or hitting the gym when not working.

  • Farazia Karamat

    Farazia is on the Social Media Committee and the Instagram Manager at The Neurotransmitters. She is a Final Year MBBS student at Karachi Institute of Medical Sciences, Karachi, Pakistan. As a USMLE aspirant, she is passionate about pursuing neurology in the future and is dedicated to exploring the depths of this field.

    As medical student, she is consistently eager to seize opportunities that offer valuable experiences both academically and extracurricularly. She loves poetry, song writing and content writing.

  • Japleen Kaur, MBBS

    Japleen is on the Social Media Committee and the Linkedin Manager at The Neurotransmitters. She is a graduate from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, India, currently serves as a medical officer with PCHS, focusing on raising awareness of health issues in underdeveloped areas. An eloquent speaker, she is deeply passionate about community outreach activities. While her interest lies in neurology, she holds a special affinity for epilepsy and movement disorders. Trained in Indian classical music, Japleen believes in the therapeutic integration of music and medicine. Outside of her professional pursuits, she finds joy in spending time with her three dogs and indulging in fiction reading.
